Cloud Printing

Everyone has heard of cloud computing, how about cloud printing?  Google offers Cloud Print, an app that allows you to take any device with internet capability and access and print any document to a printer you chose from anywhere in the world.

How does it work?  There are two options you can chose from.  First is the easiest, buy a printer that supports cloud printing, connect it to the internet and configure it to your Google account.  A Second option is to take a printer (generally older) that does not support could printing and configure it to a desktop or laptop computer.  You'll need chrome and there will be some configurations within Chrome you'll need to make.  The downside to this option is the computer will always need to be one and chrome open.

What are the advantages to cloud printing?  No more are the days you're looking at a document on the phone, only to have to walk over to your desktop or laptop, turn it on, wait for it to boot up, log in to your account and then print it.  What Cloud Printing eliminates is that hassle.

Check out the video overview from Google.

  1. Cloud printing sounds like it would be just as useful as this blog is.
